Over two decades ago, we embarked on our journey in the landscaping business, fueled by a shared passion for nature. Although both of us hail from the Milwaukee area, our individual connections to landscaping stem from distinct childhood experiences.
John's roots are deeply embedded in New Berlin, where his family built a home on a sprawling three-acre lot in the 1970s. In an era when much of New Berlin was rural, there was an abundance of work to transform the land—planting trees, moving soil, and establishing a yard. John fondly recalls spending weekends with his father, laboring to dig what they fondly called the "Nile"—a drainage swale that traversed the front yard, efficiently channeling rainwater. Armed with only two hand shovels, they tirelessly excavated the swale, transporting the dirt in a small trailer pulled by his father's Simplicity tractor. Despite the physical challenges, the experience of working with the land, building a fieldstone wall, and transplanting saplings left an indelible mark on John.
Christine's introduction to nature unfolded in a different setting—urban Milwaukee. Her parents, fond of nature excursions, took the family to Whitnall Park every weekend to explore trails and admire beautiful gardens. It was during these walks that Christine's mother imparted wisdom, teaching her and her sisters to observe the intricate vein structures of leaves and the way plants dispersed their seeds. The simple yet profound instruction to "look," "smell," "touch," and "listen" cultivated Christine's enduring curiosity, instilling in her a deep appreciation for nature—a connection that continues to inspire her approach to landscaping.
Fast forward from those childhood days, our journey took a more serious turn as we pursued business degrees and honed our horticultural expertise through formal education and hands-on experience. The entrepreneurial spirit, combined with the joy and pride derived from growing something of value, has fueled our dedication over the past two decades.
"Beauty by Nature…Function by Design" encapsulates our mission. We recognize the gift of the natural world around us and embrace the responsibility to shape it in accordance with our values.
With gratitude for your interest in getting to know us a little better, we conclude our story.
Thank you!
