More than 26 years ago, John and Christine each came to landscaping a little differently. John grew up working outdoors and developed a natural talent for building, problem-solving and bringing projects together in the field. Christine’s interest in plants started simply by noticing them—becoming curious about the different shapes of leaves, the seeds they produced, their colors and how they changed throughout the seasons. Combined, their curiosity grew into a deeper knowledge of plants and horticulture, and eventually into landscape design and helping clients envision what their own outdoor spaces could become. Those different strengths have complemented each other and shaped Spring Gardens from the beginning.
Outside of work, life is rarely quiet. John and Christine are beekeepers, tap their maple trees for syrup and grow a garden largely dedicated to homemade salsa. John has also taken his love of barbecue to the competition circuit with Johnny’s Smoke Show, where the two enjoy competing at BBQ events together.
They love entertaining—especially dinner parties and the occasional murder mystery—along with biking, traveling, exploring new places and hitting the road with their Pomeranian, Wyatt. Both have been longtime runners, from fun runs to marathons, and Christine still finds time for her book club.
They’re also passionate about their community and aren't afraid to roll up their sleeves when a local civic issue or cause matters to them.
Most important, though, is family. Their two grown children are married, and John and Christine are now grandparents to four grandchildren who keep them busy and are a big part of their lives.
Twenty-six years later, there’s a lot to look back on—thousands of landscapes, countless memories and a business that became a significant part of their family’s story. John and Christine are proud of what they’ve built together and especially grateful for the customers, employees, friends and community who have been part of the journey.
